CS50 Is In Turkey!

What is CS50

CS50 (Computer Science 50) is the legendary introductory computer science course taught by Harvard University Professor David J. Malan. How about we translate this course that is taken by millions of people every year, into Turkish and deliver it to young people from all over Turkey? Online and free of charge on top of that… by supporting young people of all ages to learn together in study groups!

We had this dream and achieved it! In 2019, we translated the 2019 version of CS50 into Turkish (Turkish dubbing) with dozens of volunteers and shared it with everyone in August 2020!

The course is online and open to everyone, there is no selection process. It doesn’t matter how old or where you are! At the end, those who complete 70% of the course will receive a CS50xKodluyoruz Certificate of participation.

CS50xKodluyoruz Now In Azerbaijan!

CS50xKodluyoruz is now subtitled in Azerbaijani! For those who want to take their first step into software in Azerbaijan but don’t know where to start, we translated CS50xKodluyoruz into Azerbaijani with our 23 volunteers. The “CS50xKodluyoruz Azerbaijan” course is completely free and open to everyone online!

It all started when we met Ivan Prymachenko in 2019.

Ivan is the entrepreneur who founded Prometheus, Ukraine’s Coursera. Today, more than 1 million young Ukrainians are learning thanks to Prometheus.

When we talked about Kodluyoruz with Ivan, we asked each other: How can we spread the bootcamp model of Kodluyoruz all over Turkey and ensure that not hundreds but thousands of young people can access high quality education freely? The power of Kodluyoruz: In-class bootcamps. The power of Prometheus: Online education. “So what if we combine them?” we said. We decided to start with one of the best courses in the world and of course our choice was the CS50. We decided to translate CS50 into Turkish (Turkish dubbing) to share it with everyone online, and to create an education model that will enable young people to come together and learn with the support of fellows.

Harvard University did not turn down the letter we wrote with great enthusiasm. Professor David J. Malan and his team were just as excited as we were.

It was not easy to translate the lessons into Turkish. 80 volunteer translators from 5 countries and 17 cities helped our dream. Soner Canko believed in us and supported us with Troy. And today, we are proud of making this big dream come true, with more than 45,000 of our students taking this course.

Our Dream Partners

This course has been brought to Turkey with the contributions of Turkey’s Payment Method TROY and Bilişim Vadisi.

“Malan is very popular because he knows how to make computer science fun. More importantly, he shows us how easy it is. The course is truly designed for those who want to get into computer science.”
